He was a librarian by profession. Also a philosopher, novelist, and critic he was founder of the College of Sociology. In 1959, Bataille began \u003ci\u003eTears of Eros\u003c\/i\u003e, and it was completed in 1961, his final work. City Lights published two of his other works: \u003ci\u003eStory of the Eye\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eThe Impossible\u003c\/i\u003e.
