Aaron Spencer Fogleman is a Board of Trustees Professor and Distinguished Research Professor within the Department of History at Northern Illinois University. With specializations on the Atlantic World, transatlantic migrations, and the intersection of religion and culture in early America, his publications include Hopeful Journeys: German Immigration, Settlement, and Political Culture in Colonial America, 1717-1775, Jesus Is Female: Moravians and Radical Religion in Early American (2008), and Five Hundred African Voices: A Catalog of Published Accounts by Africans Enslaved in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, 1586-1936 (2022).

Robert Hanserd is an Associate Professor at Columbia College Chicago who studies West African, Africa American and Atlantic culture and history. With specific interests including African cosmologies, cultural practices, and oral histories, his publications include Identity, Spirit and Freedom in the Atlantic World: The Gold Coast and the African Diaspora (2020) and Five Hundred African Voices: A Catalog of Published Accounts by Africans Enslaved in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, 1586-1936 (2022).
